The last several games I've bowled probably added up to about 100. I think my average was about 30. I think I was trying to hard. Or thinking too hard. Today I bowled a 73 my first game, trying hard to do everything right. Then I stopped trying so hard and ended up with a 122 my next game. Personal freakin best. How do you go from a sub 20 game (my previous game... sad but true) to a 73 to a 122? I don't know. To prove it wasn't a fluke, I got a 116 on my last game, making my average for today over 100. Who woulda thunk? I think I should invest in some bowling shoes.

I've been feeling a little bit lost.

Driving east on the 91 through Yorba Linda/Corona near the 241 toll road, I couldn't keep my eyes off the glowing smoke and flames right near the 91-241 interchange. If I was a little more bold, I would have pulled over and taken some pictures. I think it's one of the more picturesque sections of freeway around here, and with the other-worldliness of the brushfires, I had one eye on the fires and one on the road until I passed by. It's a little unnerving knowing that it's only about 5 miles from my house. I remember back in 1990 when the brushfires were crazy in Chino Hills and we family watched them from our balcony. Crazy.

i walk around as if i've lost something...

keep your eyes open

Two kids were walking near a park. One shouted "What's your apartment number?" The other yelled back, "I can't give out that kind of information." It's scary how we have to be that cautious about even our address.

I think I have blisters on the balls of my feet. I'd rather not check, because if it were true, then they'd probably irritate more than they do now. That'll teach me to tie my shoes.

Teaching science isn't so easy when you're giving a crash course in English at the same time. I wonder what the parents of the kids I tutor would say if I suggested that I work twice as many hours with them as I do now, with a greater emphasis on language and vocabulary than regular subject matter. Progress is slow, to say the least.

It's nice to see people you know while driving. It makes the world a little bit smaller. Hi Noreen. Nice seeing you.

My mom turned 64 today. Many blessings counted, hopefully many more to come. My dad wrote "HAPPY B-DAY MAMMA" on a piece of white paper in orange highlighter and left it on the dinner table. Coming from my dad, that's something. Home feels like it should. I think I need to spend more time here.

I drove home from Irvine, never once going over 65 MPH. I've been driving a lot slower nowadays, usually about 65 unless I'm dead tired or I need to get somewhere fast. It really eliminates most of the road rage I used to get. Some drivers are still stupid, though. It's a lot less aggravating for them to pass me than for me to get all the way around them though. Maybe I'll try 60 MPH one day. I never would have thought I would enjoy driving under the speed limit on the freeway.

Things change.

Almost 25 years old, and I'm having major growing pains. You start to believe that you're too old, but I'll take growing too fast over dying slowly anyday. Save your money, spend your life.

construction ahead

Three dreams today.

First of three:

I was hanging out with my old roommate Louis and bumped into my other old roommate, Irene. We were outside, walking along Harvard near University center at night. She was eating black forest cake. Then she told us to walk with her to her apartment. We started walking, and kept walking... so we asked her where her apartment was, and she said it was near Costco.

Wake up, use the bathroom, try to go back to sleep.

Second of three:

Couldn't remember this one.

Third of three:

I was walking around in some place that looked like a combination of Chick's Sporting Goods and a school. I forgot exactly what I was doing, but somehow I ended up as part of a huge chain-gang that was supposed to do some work there. There had to be several hundred people in the chain-gang. It seemed like I knew everyone in the chain-gang, but most were aquaintances and people I didn't talk to all that often. We were split into two groups. The first group walked to the upper level (which was an open-air section) about 4 persons wide. I was in the second group. There were only two rows of us, but we had to crawl behind the first group. What made it even harder was that there were stairs. I remember the girl next to me and I had to push the guy in front of us up the steps because he couldn't reach by himself. Once we got to the top, we prepared to break out. It was part of a plan we hatched earlier. There was a huge monster that was part of the first group which we didn't see until we got to the upper level. Once we freed ourselves, we untied the monster, which looked like 100 huge anacondas tied together at their tails. We wreaked some havok and started to make our way to the lower level.

Wake up again. I would have liked to see where that ended up.

long days.

so now i rest.
the bus stops here.

Congrats to the Steelers. It wasn't the prettiest game, but when it was good, it was good.

Hapburdaze for real. 4 (or was it 5?) in 7 days time. TGIF was shady and didn't tell us they wouldn't accept our coupons until after they gave us the bill. Mad shady. I'm going to spend my money elsewhere. Which is a shame, because the food isn't half bad.

Don't believe the hype.

No matter what I do, there's always a few tangles...
